The historic two level character building to the front of the site was constructed in the 1920s, having since been converted to office accommodation. The building is of brick construction with a tile roof and feature character windows, both levels enjoy and excellent stud height, with upper level access via stairs a single lift. 

It was originally built as a Catholic School for the Sisters of Mercy Convent, but closed in 1979. The building was the oldest school in NZ at the time of its closure.  It has been redeveloped in the late 20th Century and the remodelled building, developed as offices and a training facility for McDonald’s, was opened by Sir Edmund Hilary in 1992.

The property is located on the western fringe of Auckland’s CBD in Freemans Bay, to the northern side of Wellington Street. Freemans Bay has become a popular fringe commercial CBD location.
